There is a small part of me that wants to say ‘this is kitsch’. And then there’s another part of me that tells this small part of me to get lost – pff, you and your categories and concepts! – this is magic, you know it is…
These dogs are made by Swedish ceramic artist Christina Rosen. And truth is, if this is kitsch (and it kind of is), this is the kind of kitsch I love and also make no secret of. It’s sentimental and somewhat vulnerable and certainly truly surprising. The kid inside me is awaken, there’s no wave of judgement in between me and the pure tenderness these dogs inspire me.
