I saw these photos and thought I’d like to live inside them. Then I read all sorts of things about the series. I’m not a big fan of big and twisted metaphors that completely lose touch with reality. But I’m a big fan of these images and the ‘magic is everywhere if you bother to see’ feeling they give me. So from everything I found about the project, I will skip the metaphors and keep with me these magic and atmospheric photos and also their name, Fairytale, which I believe it suits them perfectly.
Eventually I will take with me something else too: this idea that photographer Marta Berens co-authored these photos with her 7 year old daughter. It all makes sense. And it’s funny how a kid’s imagination can speak so much to me, and I guess to you too. Does it speak to you? Eventually these photos are not the projection of a child’s imagination, but an adult’s interpretation of a child’s fantasies. And perhaps that’s why it speaks to me so much, because this Fairytale is a child’s world every adult would wish to inhabit.
At least I wish.
